Affordable
cooperative housing
for people with psychiatric disabilities
Homestead,
a new cooperative housing program in Davis, developed by Yolo Community
Care Continuum (Y-Triple-C) in partnership with Community Housing
Opportunities Corporation (CHOC) is opening its doors Summer 2007 to low
income people with psychiatric disabilities and / or in danger of being
homeless.
There are a total of 21 bedroom units located
in 5 buildings, each building with its own common space and kitchen. All
the buildings surround a common yard and share an organic community
garden. Homestead Co-op was built on land donated by the City of Davis and
borders a pocket park, just north of the Davis Police Station in east
Davis. Rents will range from $200 plus per month and up, with some
of the more expensive units accepting Section 8 vouchers making them more
affordable.

Homestead was originally developed and
operated by Solar Community Housing Association for single parents in 1994
and has been significantly renovated in 2006 for its new tenants.
